A mix between Kaiser Chiefs sound and Chris Martin’s voice from cold play is how I think White Belt Yellow Tag come across.
Unfortunately I don’t think that this band is very original at all. The album to me seems a bit predictable and ordinary from its genre.
When listening to the CD on random, I seemed to find that all the songs started to sound exactly the same. The track ‘News’ was a little original along with ‘Tell your friends (it all worked out)’ but the album still failed to catch my attention whilst sitting cup of tea in hand staring out of the window.
‘Always and Echoes’’, released on the 29th of March was described by band member Justin Lockey as ‘what would happen if you force fed a fat kid loads of bags of skittles then punched him really hard in the stomach’… Well I suppose he has some weird humour going for him, although he is meant to be a musician not a comedian.
I won’t be to hard as I guess it just wasn’t my cup of tea to listen to their album, and it will no doubt please some fans out there that they have awaited their debut album, Methods – just not me.
To finalise, the daily mirror said it was ‘an impressive effort…’ and an effort in my opinion was all it was, not particularly a success.. But who am I to say so, they are the ones who are signed!
