DREADZONE – Eye On The Horizon

Dreadzone are sometimes trance & club, sometimes folk & reggae, at times rock and dub, but always pure and ambient. Their new album “Eye On The Horizon” is everything that Dreadzone love to do, but with a slight different sense and purpose. The 10 tracks on this album are quite simply brilliant. The transitions between each type of genre this album represents are very clever, but at the same time frustrating. While there isn’t a bad song or part of a song on this album, the turn from, say, folk to trance can sometimes be too quick. The first time I listened to this album, it calmed me. The second time, I noticed the trance parts more. I think you need to be in different moods to enjoy different parts of this album. It’s lucky there are 10 tracks of pure brilliance here though, because this album, will not be something to stick in your head, but is something to maybe, come home after a stressful day, and just relax. This album is suitable to any music taste, but as I said, you have to be in the right mood and it maybe this that will spoil it for some people. It’s a shame though because Dreadzone have created a triumph of an album. I heavily recommend Eye On The Horizon!
