THE UNIVERSAL – The Universal

So, The Universal‘s debut! At long last. The Universal are a mod/indie band with a passion for fashion, sponsored by Fred Perry & Gama Clothing, each big clothing distributors on the mod fashion. It looks like The Universal have had all the help they can get, and on their album cover is the band, wearing all Fred Perry, a bit weird if you ask me but oh well, because when you put this album on, especially for the first time, you will be absolutely swept away, and as their track Revolution runs, you get the feeling that something big is coming this bands way. This track has everything, crunchy indie guitar solos, singing choirs, catchy beats, and if you think this track is good, you haven’t listened to the rest of the album! Standout tracks like Stand Up, once again have the same formula as Revolution, and it’s these tracks which are the best. The lyrics are positive, all brilliantly backed up with great guitar riffs, maybe some of the best I’ve heard since Billy Talent’s ‘II’. Only thing is, they’re not that well known, and they should really release a top 40 chart contender, like Get Yourself Together. This band deserve a number 1 and so much more, but their debut album isn’t going to do that for them, but i am very excited about this band and you should definitely check them out, as they are going to be a force to be reckoned with in the next ten years, and could possibly even bring the mod culture back to mainstream!
