VIDEODROME! 25/05/2010

It’s been a while since we last shared our favourite videos with you, but here are some of the finest to have landed in our inbox lately. Check them out and share your thoughts with us.

First up on today’s videodrome we’ve got an artist who excites us a lot… and one who doesn’t, if we’re honest. Lissie is an engaging and raw talent with a gorgeous country blues vocal and an innate charm that emanates from the stage. Ellie Goulding however has left us cold previously. This duet shows the girl has talent, it’s just a shame she’s being handled as a cookie cutter pop moppet and releasing tunes that have a horrible computerised sheen to them. But enough about Goulding, if you haven’t seen or heard Lissie yet then check out the video below, we think you’ll fall in love like we have!

It may not be cool to be a Billy Joel fan, but we think he’s knocked out a few good tunes in his time. Fyfe Dangerfield seems to think so too, hence his laterst single being a cover of Always A Woman. We like it very much, and think you will too.

Riz MC creates thick layers of glitchy electronic hip -hop. It’s intriguing stuff and, if you think you might recognize him in the video below, thats because he’s appeared in the likes of Road To Guantanamo and Four Lions.

Chapel Club write the sort of dark pop that sees them often compared to the likes of Editors, but theres more to them than following in the well worn footsteps of their predecessors. Check out the video for their latest single Five Trees and I think you’ll see what we mean.

Finally, we’ve long confessed our respect for Mumford & Sons and the new single Roll Away Your Stone is to their usual high standard. Check out the video below.
