EMIL FRIIS – Road To Nashville

June 5th, 2010  |  Published in Reviews

The piano and strong vocals opening the album provide a positive start. It is very different to other music out there at the moment, it doesn’t follow the current ‘rules’ where everything is modified, it is pure music with a fresh sound. The album as a whole is very relaxing and calm, yet tracks such as ‘The Road To Nashville’ and ‘A Smiling Face’ also introduce a slightly more upbeat, catchy feel to it. They bring variety to it, breaking up slower songs such as ‘Time Changes Everything’ and ‘Birdy Blues’. Each of the 10 tracks on Emil Friis’ third LP is individual and easy to listen to, though you do have to be in the right mood to enjoy it to its full potential. It is probably something that could be listened to a couple of times in a row, but not over and over again without a break, though it is genuinely a good album for a lazy Sunday.
