SAMANTHA GIBB AND THE CARTEL – Wrong Side

August 27th, 2010  |  Published in Reviews

With Samantha Gibb being the daughter of the late Maurice Gibb of the Bee Gees, I had high hopes for the band’s EP, which it easily fulfilled without any doubt. What a fantastic start with My Spell, which draws the listener in to the EP, with a tune just as catchy as the remaining three tracks. The strong vocals have a way of staying with you for some time after it’s over. Though each track follows the pattern of being catchy and memorable, they are all very individual and stand out for their own reasons. I’ll Stay is a more emotional and much slower track to others such as Wrong Side, which carries a very different message and feel to the previous track. It encourages you to tap your foot to the beat, and really get into it, like they want you to be a part of the experience. This is the same for the remaining track, Take It Easy, which has a powerful drum beat at the beginning of the track, which keeps you intrigued and listening for more, which they deliver with no question. Without a doubt, these four tracks leave you hungry for more.
