As part of the build up to the much anticipated release of their forthcoming debut EP, Southampton band The Lost Boys will be supporting Erland & The Carnival on Monday 4th April at The Joiners Arms in Southampton.
Likened in some quarters to Squeeze, The Jam and Arctic Monkeys, The Lost Boys have created quite a buzz around Southampton of late and Monday night’s show is the next step in what has already been a progressive year for the four piece.
Speaking of the prestigious slot, Losties singer and guitar player Daniel Ash explained, “Erland & The Carnival are actually Paul Weller’s new favourite band, which to me is very exciting! Weller is my main inspiration, not to mention the fact that Erland & The Carnival are actually very good.†He continued, “I’ve seen Erland & The Carnival play live before. They were actually supporting Weller at the Royal Albert Hall, and I thought they were brilliant! A really cool and different sound, plus you can’t go wrong with music royalty like Simon Tong (ex-Verve and Blur guitarist) in your line up. We’re very excited. We feel that it’s an important show for us.â€
So how does it feel for The Lost Boys to be playing at The Joiners again? “The Joiners is a great venue!†smiled Daniel. “You’re always guaranteed good sound both on and off stage, which can only make it a better show for everyone. We played our first show there which was with The Pipettes almost a year ago. That was a good fun night! We celebrated my 21st Birthday with a gig there in February! We brought a large crowd with us and a number of them formed into a human pyramid! It’s fair to say that we have some highly energetic fans!!â€
Having already played a number of successful shows in London so far this year, 2011 is building up to be quite some year for The Lost Boys. With an increasing fan base and a quietly enthusiastic buzz surrounding the band, they unleash their debut 5 track EP next month with more shows lined up around the release. “We’re just putting the final touches to our debut EP which we intend to get out to as many people as we can and take our show up and down the country,†stated Daniel. “More than anything we want to continue creating a buzz about us and what we’re doing. We really believe in what we’re doing and think that we can make something happen this year.â€

Great band, one to watch!
