When everyone in bands seems to want nothing more than to pull on their pointy shoes, wrap a thin scarf around their necks and sing in a whiny, thin little voice, anything different comes as blessed relief. Well, Kill Kasper are certainly different. Embracing old school rock and mixing it with modern production in ways the likes of Shinedown have used to great effect, these guys make their feelings known from the outset. Opener ‘Scenesters’ sends a message straight away, not just in the lyrics, but also the unabashed rocking going on, from meaty riffs and gravely vocals to guitar solos (oh, how we’ve missed you!). ‘You Said’ has a bluesy feel to it that I love, barrelling along with juicy riffs flying left and right, while the Kolonel spits accusations – “You said go out in style, you said it all then went away!”. At this point I really have to mention the drummer here, Wide (I didn’t choose the name) keeps things trekking along at great pace here, though I can’t help but want to buy him a cowbell, I think it would add the finishing touches to ‘Get Out’. Be sure to pop across to these guys’ myspace page too, and check out the remixed version of Get Out – with Udy at the mixing desk it has become a different beast entirely, well worth a look.

My name in lights
Excuse second comment, I wrote my name as Usy on the last. Doh!
Haha, no worries mate. I felt the track deserved a mention.
