PREVIEW: Shepley Spring Festival

May 12th, 2012  |  Published in Features  |  1 Comment

This year sees the sixth annual Shepley Spring Festival, located in the village of Shepley near Huddersfield. This is not your average folk festival, it is much more family and party orientated. The festival spans across four days kicking off on Thursday the 24th of May. On the Thursday night the villagers of Shepley are hosting the opening concert of the festival with the legendary Elkie Brooks headlining.
On the Friday the festival gets into full swing with events all over the village. These activities span all across the weekend and include a variety of dance displays, open mic sessions, workshops, concerts and impromptu jamming sessions.
Whilst incorporating all of the above, the main festival site also has a constant musical programme including big name acts like Demon Barber Roadshow, Treacherous Orchestra and Phil Beer. Live music is available in the beer tent, home to beers such as the ‘Shepley Spring Ale’ brewed specially by Elland Brewery for the event.
The festival is also known for its diverse range of fine food vendors which this year includes a French crêperie, stone baked pizza stall and fish and chips direct from Whitby.

Shepley Spring Festival is a fantastic weekend or a great day out. Tickets are available from the box office number and also from most traders in the village.
