WATCH: Allen Stone – Sleep

January 2nd, 2013  |  Published in Media

The Washington-born son of a preacher, Allen Stone was raised singing gospel in a tiny American town. He has since spread his wings to bring his particular brand of classic soul to audiences across the globe.

Known for his electric live shows across the pond and backed by his sensational 4-piece band, he has made waves all over Europe and sold out his London shows at Cargo and Jazz Cafe.

Appearing on the Late Show with David Letterman in August 2012 and with his album already out in the US on ATO Records, US critics have been unanimous in their praise of Allen Stone and has had the honour of being compared to a young Stevie Wonder by The New York Times.

“Soul music from that time wasn’t just about bumpin’ and grindin’ at the club – it was a huge part of a cultural movement. That’s where my inspiration comes from,” says Stone, who was also schooled by folk records of the period.

Allen Stone’s self-titled debut album will be released in the UK by Decca on February 25th 2013.
