Yes, many people will already own the ‘Best Of’ compilation that Blur released back in 2000. It neatly summed up the bands singles in one package and proved very popular. With this two disc set though, they’ve chosen to take a slightly different route. Spurred on, no doubt, by the bands reformation this collection features not only the hits, but a select sprinkling of album tracks too, to give more of a flavour of what Damon and co were really all about. So alongside the likes of ‘Girls and Boys’, ‘Song 2’ and the ubiquitous ‘Parklife’ we’re also treated to ‘He Thought Of Cars’, ‘Advert’ and ‘Popscene’ a single long thought forgotten by the band. If you’re a long time Blur fan there’s probably a track or two missing from your favourites here (not that it matters, you probably own all the albums already), but if you’re new to the band there isn’t a better place to start. Best of all though, for old fans or people finding the band for the first time… there’s no ‘Country House’!
