SENSER – How To Do Battle
November 19th, 2009 | Published in Reviews
‘How to do Battle’ is a truly astonishing album and, pardon the cliché, completely blows you away. Senser has been around for over a decade and after listening to this album it’s not hard to see why. Each fast paced track obliterates the standard set by the one before. Each lyrical display gets caught and twisted in your head until you have no hope of getting it out. Each successful fusion of hip hop and rock, each addictive concoction of metal and electronica gets you hooked to the album until you literally have to remove the CD from the disc drive to give yourself a chance to get anything done.
It’s a rare talent to be able to mix together all of these genres and not lose yourself a little bit, but this appears to be the exception. In fact the odd combination underlines and strengthens the vocals of Heitham Al Sayed and Kerstin Haigh, especially on such astounding tracks as ‘So Refined’ and their single ‘Resistance Now’.
Senser have showed how completely capable they are in controlling several genres at once and with ‘How to do Battle’ have perhaps produced a masterpiece.
