EDITORS Live @ Portsmouth Guildhall, 28/03/2010

March 31st, 2010 by Matt | 2 Comments

It’s fair to say, going into tonight’s gig, that I wasn’t the biggest fan of Editors, but thankfully I had my better half with me who loves them. If nothing else, with the dreary grey skies and drizzling rain as we waited in Guildhall Square, surrounded by the regal Guildhall itself and the dreary concrete and glass of the civic offices, we were setting a perfect scene for the Birmingham bands tunes…

BOE WEAVER – Boe Weaver

March 31st, 2010 by Ally | 1 Comment

Boe Weaver are a mysterious outfit – there is no description of them on Last FM, little or no personal detail on their MySpace, and their PR write up describes them in only a few phrases. So what do we know? Enough! Working out of the Isle of Wight, and apparently loving the giant animal [...]

SINGLES CORNER! 30/02/2010

March 30th, 2010 by Matt | No Comments

ASH – War With Me Atomic Heart Records A strange one this, it feels more like a long lost Housemartins tune than the newest single from Ash. It’s by no means a bad tune, but it just doesn’t seem to quite gel… 60 PERSONS – Not Like You Myspace.com/60persons Catchy stuff this, with the sort [...]

PALOMA FAITH Live @ Southampton Guildhall, 25/03/2010

March 30th, 2010 by Matt | No Comments

Though she may have garnered the sympathy vote with her stories of being laid up with a cold, Paloma Faith didn’t pull her punches tonight. Instead she invested herself fully in a powerful performance that was far ore hit than miss. Backed by her superb band, the set was full of energy and truly came [...]

We’ve written about Losers before, but here’s the video to Flush, their new single. Coming on as a Terry gilliam mental breakdown, it’s something to behold… [...]

TOM MCRAE Live @ The O2 Academy, Bristol, 16/03/2010

March 26th, 2010 by Darren | No Comments

Walking onstage with a half-hearted wave, and a barely audible “Hello,” a solemn-looking McRae opened solo with the simple, yet emotive acoustic lament Alphabet Of Hurricanes (incidentally, a song which doesn’t feature on the new album of the same name), his vocals staggering in a live setting, and instantly hushing a previously unsettled audience. But [...]

PLEASE ALLOW ME TO INTRODUCE MYSELF: Jon Allen

March 25th, 2010 by Summer | No Comments

Jon Allen, a guy who goes relatively undetected but a guy who puts too much work in for it to be deserved. Hopefully, with the release of his album Dead Man’s Suit and his impending tour of Europe it’s something that is about to change. He’s a great live performer, fantastic at keeping his audience [...]
