We cut through the hype and give the one thing lacking in so many places these days: an honest opinion. We're not going to put something down for the sake of it either. For an honest outlook on music (and other subjects), you're in the right place!

It’s that time again, for us to pan for gold among the video clips we get sent each week, and in this edition of Videodrome we’ve got some real nuggets for you. First up we have Miike Snow with his new single ‘Black & Blue’, which will precede his debut album. It’s a lovely little track that restores our hope after the lacklustre offering of ‘Animals’. Next up are returning pop pixies Alphabeat who we have to declare a bit of a soft spot for. They’ve ditched the bubblegum pop and seem to have found a volume of ‘Now Dance’ from about 1991, but somehow it really works for them. Check out ‘The Spell’ and we think you’ll see what we mean. We don’t often go in for Hip-Hop here at Call Upon The Author, but every now and again a track comes along that makes you pay attention to it. We felt it the first time we heard Tupac and the first spin we had of Eminem’s debut album. Now, we’ve felt the tingle again in watching this video for ‘Junk’ by Eyedeas and Abilities… we can’t really say more, but watch it and you’ll appreciate it a lot! Something a bit lighter next, with the first edition of Bowling For Soup’s tour diaries, with the expected zaniness from the Texan pop-punks. Last up, we have some slightly folkie mellowness from the Dodos, to ease you into a nice lazy Sunday… marvellous!

It’s that time again, for some cracking new videos to accompany lots of exciting new tracks being released in the coming weeks. We’ve got Bowling For Soup, the comedy pop punks hold a special place in our hearts with amusing videos that seem perfect for mornings when you’re shaking off a hangover and can’t deal with complexity. At the heavier end of the spectrum, Senser release their new single ‘Resistance Now’. Fanfarlo treat us to some old fashioned magic in the video for their new single ‘The Walls Are Coming Down’ itself a rather lovely folk tune. Summer hasn’t quite left us yet, so there’s still time to enjoy Dub Pistols and their jaunty new single. Lastly, everyones favourite vegan baldie is back with another classic tune, check out the promo to ‘Mistake’ here.
