NEWSFLASH: Wiley Announces New Single

Posted: December 5th, 2009 | Author: Matt | Filed under: News | Tags: , | No Comments »

East London’s finest Richard Kylea Cowie aka Wiley has taken the E3 music scene from an underground phenomenon to full mainstream success. Along the way, he’s produced and / or mentored most of the scene’s biggest names including Dizzee Rascal, Tinchy Stryder, Chipmunk and JME. Now the groundbreaking MC, producer and mad genius returns with the February 21st release of his new single ‘Never Be Your Woman’ on Relentless / Virgin Records.

‘Never Be Your Woman’ is Wiley’s contemporary take on the almost forgotten 1997 classic that White Town took from out of nowhere and straight to the top of the charts. Wiley’s bold rhymes are powered with a raw energy that provides the attitude needed to make the track a relevant and vital addition to 2009’s burgeoning UK scene.

The track was produced by rising underground star Naughty Boy with guest vocals from Emeli Sande. The duo previously collaborated on Chipmunk’s Top 10 hit ‘Diamond Rings’.

Wiley first became notable on the underground scene in the Nineties but it was his formation of the Roll Deep collective that defined grime as a genre that could infiltrate the mainstream music scene. Always eager to break new ground and to surprise with new developments sounds, Wiley’s unique talent is matched by his prolific nature. His solo career already encompasses four studio albums as well as a vast array of mixtapes including several releases as part of his regular Tunnel Vision series.

Wiley is currently pushing ahead with new material for an upcoming album project.

Mixes come courtesy of Shy FX, Agent X, Herve, Solo, and N-Type.

NEWSFLASH: Late Of The Pier announce new single!

Posted: November 27th, 2009 | Author: Matt | Filed under: News | Tags: , | No Comments »

“Here is the beginning of something new.
We’re rewriting our own rules.
And taking on new projects.
In new forms of expression.
The past few years have given us a lot to think about
and feel.
And now we begin to bring to life,
our imaginations.
Here is the beginning of something new.

Love,
LOTP”

Fresh from their debut album release Fantasy Black Channel, Late Of The Pier return with ambitious new track ‘Blueberry’. Produced by Erol Alkan, this new slab of prog-pop will initially be released on Alkan’s own Phantasy label as a single download in December before seeing a 12-inch vinyl release along side another new track ‘Best In The Class’, released in February 2010.

The track received its debut on the third installment of Erol’s 6 Mix residency on BBC6 Music on Saturday 21st November, and the response has been overwhelming with Boys Noize terming them “the best band on the globe.”

2010 looks to usher in a new era of Late Of The Pier as the band branches off into new multimedia projects… from solo albums, side projects and collaborations to scripting, editing and directing film. It’ll also see the official launch of the bands Zarcorp label, including the Samuel Dust-produced debut single from newcomers Egyptian Hip Hop and the upcoming audio/visual project La La Lepus. It will also see the beginnings of their follow-up album for Parlophone Records and ‘something very special and very secret’.

The New Year promises Late Of The Pier a new studio, new friends, new sounds and many new ideas… and if ‘Blueberry’ is anything to go on… we’re all in for a very exciting year.
